Nomad Taekwondo is a Full member of the British Taekwondo Control Board and was established in January 2006. At Nomad Taekwondo, we provide a safe friendly family-oriented and yet productive environment to allow students of all ages to experience Martial Art as it should be enjoyed and at the same time achieving your set goals. Whether your goal is to achieve physical fitness, to become a Black belt Instructor or a Champion, we will set you on the right path to achieving your goals.

Our mission is to provide the highest possible level of instructions and training, where an individual can: -

> Firstly and most importantly, achieve ones’ set goals
> Develop a sense of responsibility, self confidence and self-assurance
> Develop, enhance and reinforce your leadership skills in all areas of your life
> Develop, enhance and reinforce the ability to protect yourself in the most practical manner
> Learn to control circumstances rather than let circumstances control you
> Become physically and mentally alert through rigorous programmed training

At this club we teach a varied syllabus so you will be exposed to all aspects of Taekwondo; Sparring, Pattern work and self-defence and we are not a club primarily dominated or favour any particular one; you will become effective and efficient in all areas relating to Taekwondo. We are also very closely linked to both the London Region Poomsae (Pattern) and Kyurogi (Sparring) Team, so there are opportunities to have monthly training sessions with both teams, to keep up with the latest developments in both aspects of the syllabus.

You can also rest assured that you are taught by instructors who are fully insured through the BTC and have had a full enhanced criminal record bureau check, making our instructors safe to work with children and the general public.

The Chief Instructor and club founder is Chi Lai. He is a 4th Dan Black Belt in Kukkiwon (WTF) Style Taekwondo but started out training in the ITF style Taekwondo in the early 90's under Master Edmund Chow 4th Dan, where he attained his 1st Dan Black Belt. But through changing circumstances, he joined a local Taekwondo club close to where he was working and that was a beginning of a new adventure which is still continuing today.

And now with over 20 years of training and over 6 years of coaching experience from various clubs, he formed Nomad Taekwondo in January 2007 and from a small beginning where students were training in a small dance studio in Ladywell Leisure Centre, in August 2007 Nomad Taekwondo moved to it new training location, the newly refurbished Forest Hill Leisure Centre, and from then the club has grown steadily, with student in from its ranks training regularly with the British Squad and winning Local, National and International Sparring Tournaments.

But all this would not be possible without a good supporting group and at Nomad Taekwondo we have this support. Bassil Richardson, 2nd Dan Black Belt is the club Assistant Instructor and a Tournament Centre Referee. We also have Leon Jackson, 4th Dan Black Belt and a tournament referee, with ambitions to become an International Referee and he has travelled and refereed many tournaments nationally and Internationally..

From this pool of resources and as an active member of the UK's Taekwondo community and a member of the British Taekwondo Control Board, the club is in a very strong position to ensure students are kept up-to-date with all new developments.

All our instructors are Registed Instructors with the British Taekwondo Council (BTC) and have passed an Enhanced Disclosure CRB Check.
